Observing intertidal ecology
In order to protect the nature, tourists have to be guided by professionals to enter the intertidal zone, whereas the number of entry is also strictly controlled. The beach located towards the south of the camping area of Duozaiping Intertidal Zone as well as Sanfu Port are two best spots to get a closer look at the unique nature. As tides ebb in the morning, tourists may walk on the rocks with slippers, observe the crabs, starfish, and sea urchins. Mini fish, sea cucumber and shellfish can also be seen from above the sea water as it is clear. Falling tide happens during night on some occasions. Even though it is difficult to see in the dark, it can be a totally different experience!
Round-the-island, observe the nature
One has no need to fear of getting lost on the island. Most of the famous spots are connected by bus. To the south there is great view of cliffs. To the west there is Geban Bay, also known as the beach of Venice, which is currently the longest beach on the island. Most of it is composed of seashells, measuring approximately 100 meters. Tourists can go snorkeling, swimming, and participate in other water activities here, while at night the sunset is breathtaking. The Beauty Cave is divided into two parts by the main road that runs around the island. Just a little distance pass the toll, there is a concrete stairs on the right leading to the coral reef area, which meets the main road at Beauty Cave. On the left there is another concrete stair leading upwards into the hills, where a pedestrian path approximately 4 kilometers lies. It is suggested that tourists get off here, which leads to some other 20 caves worth an adventure!
Wild Boar Ditch is located on the upper left corner of Sanban, connecting the ghost cave. The ditch is created by cliffs, which goes as deep as 400 meters. Plantation blossoms in the ditch showing the strength of life and survival. Those odd looking rocks in the area are in fact weathered coral reefs. Look closely, you may find some fossils of marine creatures! Local residents keep in mind the importance of environmental protection, making sure that this beautiful land will not be destroyed as more and more tourists arrive.
