HAYASHI DEPARTMENT STORE
Built in 1932, Hayashi Department Store was the biggest department store in Tainan and the local once called it “Wu Ceng Lou Zi’ ( which means five-story building in Chinese).
It was named after its Japanese owner, Mr. Hayashi. Visitors can see the character “Hayashi” shown on the billboard. The first elevator in Tainan also sits in this department store.
ANPING TREE HOUSE
Considering the bricks that were used to construct this houses were gotten from Anping Fort, it is assumed that it have been built during the end of 19th century and the beginning of Japanese colonization.
Originally serving as office and warehouse of UK trade agency Tait., these buildings were later abandoned, and over the years one of the warehouses became one with overgrown Banyan trees. A narrow wooden platform guides visitors across the “tree house” that is now a famous tourist attraction.
TEN DRUM CULTURAL VILLAGE
Opened in 2007 and located in the suburbs of Tainan, Ten Drum Cultural Village is isolated from hustle and bustle of big city by a quiet forest trail.
